Dear Vega ISD Community:
We hope you had a great 4th of July celebration with your family. Our thoughts and prayers certainly go out to the communities and families who have lost loved ones and who have been affected by the flooding in the Hill Country in Texas and in Ruidoso.
Our FFA students recently returned from the annual FFA Convention in Fort Worth. Six of our students received their Lonestar Degree, the highest degree on the State level. Our own 2024 graduate Addie Carlson completed her State Officer duties at the Convention. Addie represented our community and the FFA very well as a State Officer this past year, while also taking classes at Texas Tech University during her first year in college. A special congratulations goes to our own Mr. Newton who received both the Area 1 and the State of Texas “Here by the Owl” award competing among Ag Teachers from across the state. Please see the district’s webpage and Facebook page for more information and pictures.
We are putting together a Vega ISD Wall of Honor to recognize Vega ISD graduates who have served in the military. If you are a veteran or a current member of the armed forces who graduated from Vega ISD or if you know of someone who is, please reach out to Mr. Newton who is heading this up.
As a reminder, the first day of classes for the upcoming school year will be Tuesday, August 12th. School will begin at 7:40 AM and will be dismissed at 3:54 PM. This will be the first year of the hybrid schedule. The first nine weeks of the school year will be five day weeks (with holidays on the Federal holidays of Labor Day on September 1st and Columbus Day on October 13th). The fourth week in October will mark the beginning of the four day weeks on the hybrid calendar as the district will be closed on Friday, October 24th. A copy of the 2025-26 school calendar is on the district’s webpage.
Vega ISD is now accepting transfer applications for next school year. If you know of any families who would be interested in attending an A-Rated school district, please have them visit our website and reach out to our campuses. When you visit the district’s website, it opens up to the transfer landing page where you will find more information about Vega ISD along with the transfer application. Please note that to be eligible to be accepted as a transfer student to Vega ISD, all students must be in good standing with their current school district, have good attendance, and have no discipline issues.
Thank you,
Jerry Adams
Superintendent, Vega ISD
