Longhorn Weekly

Dear Vega ISD Community:

This week marks the end of the first three weeks of school. Thatโ€™s really hard to believe!  Be sure to check out your studentโ€™s progress report and communicate with teachers as needed to make sure your student is getting what they need both at home and in the classroom to be successful.

The Texas Education Agency recently released its annual financial accountability system ratings, known as the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST), and Vega ISD received an โ€œAโ€ rating for โ€œSuperior Achievementโ€ with a perfect score of a 100 for the second year in a row! Not only does Vega ISD take care of business with strong academics in the classroom, but our district is an excellent steward of our taxpayersโ€™ money.

We will have our first courtyard sendoff of the school year this Friday as the football teams makes its way to Crosbyton for the first Varsity game of the year. The JV Longhorns take on the Crosbyton JV Football team here in Vega on Thursday night. Last week the Varsity Volleyball team traveled to the Metroplex to play in the Farmersville Volleyball Tournament. They returned back to Vega to host a dual match on Tuesday at the Vega gym before heading to the Canyon Randall Volleyball Tournament to play several of the larger Amarillo area schools. The Junior High Volleyball teams played Tuesday in the junior high gym while the JV volleyball team will travel to Tulia for tournament play this weekend.

Homecoming festivities will be next week. Be sure to mark your calendars for September 3rd for the Homecoming Bonfire and Meet the Longhorns. You can find more information on the districtโ€™s webpage and social media accounts.

Thank you,

Jerry Adams

Superintendent, Vega ISD
