Longhorn Weekly

Dear Vega ISD Community:

Next Monday, October 13th, the district will be closed for a student and staff holiday for Columbus Day. The following week will begin the hybrid 4-day school week with no classes for students on Friday, October 24th.

The Book Fair returns to the Vega Elementary/Junior High Library next week beginning Tuesday, October 14th. This is always a fun time to see our students very excited about the Book Fair and the new books they buy.

Last week was a lot of fun with the annual blackout pep rally.  Our cheerleaders and band did a great job getting everyone excited! The Junior High and JV Football teams traveled to Memphis last week and both won their games. The Varsity Football team shut out Memphis last Friday night to enter their bye week with a big victory. The Junior High Volleyball teams hosted West Texas last week and did a good job and traveled to Tulia on Monday for their games. The Varsity Volleyball team opened up district play on Saturday with a victory at West Texas. The band competed in a Pre-UIL Marching Festival at Stinnett over the weekend and received good feedback in preparation for their UIL Marching contest in two weeks.

This week marks the 4-H Food Drive and the classes in each hallway are in competition to see who has the most donations to support families in need.

The National Honor Society hosted the Annual First Responders Meal on Monday night and the Vega High School Band played the national anthem and another song for everyone in attendance.

Be sure to check out our webpage and Facebook pages for more information and pictures.

Thank you,

Jerry Adams
