We hope you had a very restful and Happy Thanksgiving this past week. We are excited to have our students and staff back this week. December is here and this marks the annual Vega Booster Club Basketball Tournament! We look forward to seeing our community members come out and support the basketball teams.
We are proud of our elementary and junior high students who competed at the UIL Academic Contest at Frank Phillips College before Thanksgiving break. We know our students and teachers prepared for this event and the way our Shorthorns conducted themselves throughout the event was excellent.
Our FFA students Greenhand Skills Teams participated in the Area 1 Creed Contest. The Opening Closing Ceremony Team also competed at FFA Area 1 LDE Contest.
The basketball teams are all in action on the hardcourt. The Varsity girls basketball team competed very well in the Canadian Tournament before Thanksgiving and the JV and Varsity boys basketball teams opened up their seasons during the week off. The JV girls basketball team continues to play well and the junior high boys and girls basketball teams are continuing with their seasons. We are very proud of all of our basketball players.
Please note that the first two weeks of December in our December schedule will have our students on the hybrid 4-day week. The third week of December will be a 5-day week for students and staff with a 1 PM early release on Friday December 19th for the Christmas Holiday.
Our 5th and 6th graders are taking their Math and Reading Interim Assessments this week. These assessments provide students and teachers with important information about how students are doing in these classes and to identify ways to support students to grow between now and when they take their STAAR test at the end of the school year.
Be sure to check out our webpage and Facebook pages for more information and pictures.
Thank you,
