Dear Vega ISD Community:
The spring semester continues to move along quickly. This week progress reports were posted to your parent portal account. Be sure to check your student’s academic progress and continue to work with your student on their homework.
Last week our 3rd and 4th grade students took their Reading Interim Assessment and this week they will take their Math Interim Assessment. These interim assessments will help students and our teachers focus on areas of academic strength and growth so our students will be very successful on their end of year STAAR assessments.
Last week our elementary students had their Valentine’s Day Class Parties and our high school student council hosted a Valentine's Dance at the Catholic Church. Our high school UIL Academic Team participated at the High Plains Individual UIL Meet in Amarillo and our students did very well as they continue to prepare for the District Academic Meet later in March.
As a reminder, because this past Monday was President’s Day and a school holiday, we will have school for everyone this Friday.
The boys basketball team finished up their season Tuesday night against Sunray while the girls basketball team played a hard-fought game but came up a little short against Clarendon in the bi-district playoff round. We are really proud of all of our basketball teams for their hard work and effort this season. Last weekend, the powerlifting team traveled to Highland Park for a competition.
We are now officially in track, tennis, and golf season and the tennis team will open up their season at the Rebel Small School Tennis Meet in Amarillo on Thursday.
Thank you,
Jerry Adams
Superintendent, Vega ISD
