Dear Vega ISD Community:

The STAAR testing window for our students began this past week.  Last week the STAAR test was given for our reading language arts courses: 3rd & 4th grade Reading, 7th & 8th grade ELAR, English 1 & 2 EOC, and 5th grade Reading.  This week STAAR tests will be given for 3rd grade Math, 8th grade social studies, 5th grade science, 8th grade science, Biology EOC, and US HIstory EOC.

During testing, our 1st and 2nd grade students went on a field trip to the Clovis Zoo and the PreK and kindergarten classes had a field trip to Little Bee’s.

Congratulations to our Girls Golf Team who competed at the Regional Golf Meet this past week and qualified for the State Golf Meet!  We are so proud of our girls golf team for this fantastic accomplishment!

The Regional Tennis Meet was this past Monday and four of our of girls tennis players qualified for the Regional Meet.  Our two girls singles players fought hard and competed but came up short in their tennis matches.  We are really proud of their effort and the great season they had.

Congratulations to our girls doubles tennis team who competed in the Regional Tennis meet earlier this week and qualified for the State Tennis Meet!  We are very proud of our tennis girls fro this wonderful accomplishment!

Our high school track team traveled to Panhandle last week for the Area Track Meet.  We had a relay team for girls 4x400 qualify, an area champion in the girls 400 meter run and an area bronze medalist in the 100 meter dash.  The Vega girls track team qualified for three regional events.  We are proud of all of our boys and girls track team members for their hard work this season and for those who qualified for the Area competition.

The Vega FFA Meat Judging Team traveled to Texas Tech for the Area 1 Contest last week.  Also over the weekend, our FFA Ag Mechanics Open House was held and our students showcased their impressive projects from the year and hosted a silent auction and a tasty meal.

Be sure to visit our webpage and Facebook pages for pictures and more information about these and other events for our students.

Our transfer campaign is underway on our website and social media. If you feel comfortable doing so, please “like” the social media posts and share them on your own social media pages. If you need any help in doing this, please reach out to our office. We would be glad to help. If you know of any family who might be interested in attending an A-Rated district dedicated to student academic success with personalized learning and diverse opportunities, please have them reach out to our campuses or district office for more information.

When you visit the district’s website, it opens up to the transfer landing page where you will find more information about Vega ISD along with the transfer application. Please note that to be eligible to be accepted as a transfer student to Vega ISD, all students must be in good standing with their current school district, have good attendance, and have no discipline issues. This week our students began taking their STAAR tests.  Our students and teachers have worked really hard this school year on their academic preparation and this is our time to showcase the learning from this school year.
