Dear Vega ISD Community:
As we enter into our final week of the school year, our teachers and campuses have planned many wonderful end of the year activities for our students to enjoy. Of course, our secondary students have been taking their final exams in their dual credit courses and our seniors have been enjoying their end of year activities.
We were able to have two separate emergency escorts for students traveling to Austin to compete at State Meets and Tournaments. We are very appreciative of the Vega law enforcement and Fire Department for providing the emergency escorts for our students. This past week we had an escort for Khloe Griffitt who finished 4th in the State in the 400 meter run. We are very proud of Khloe for her fantastic track season. We also had an escort for Delanie Naughton who finished 9th in the State in UIL Academic Copy Editing. We are so proud for Delanie, who has advanced to State in this event in both her freshmen and sophomore years. These are both incredible accomplishments.
This past Sunday was the Senior Baccalaureate Service followed up with the Baptist Church hosting a meal for our seniors. This is an annual occurrence and such a blessing for our students. Moreover, the investment and support for all of our students, and especially our senior students, from all of the churches in Vega is a huge blessing.
Our elementary students participated in the annual Shorthorn Track meet this past Monday and our high school students were each assigned buddies to hang out with during the track meet. This is such a great opportunity for our high school students to mentor and build relationships with our elementary students. It was a great time for all.
The campuses were able to have their junior high awards and high school awards earlier in the week along with the senior/kindergarten hall walk throughout each of the hallways in our building.
We have sent out a planning survey to our current students and their parents. We ask that all current parents complete the planning survey for each student enrolled in Vega ISD. This information will help us in planning for next school year so we have accurate class size estimates and be able to plan the transportation routes in advance. We thank you in advance for completing this survey.
Our transfer campaign is underway on our website and social media. If you feel comfortable doing so, please “like” the social media posts and share them on your own social media pages. If you need any help in doing this, please reach out to our office. We would be glad to help. If you know of any family who might be interested in attending an A-Rated district dedicated to student academic success with personalized learning and diverse opportunities, please have them reach out to our campuses or district office for more information.
When you visit the district’s website, it opens up to the transfer landing page where you will find more information about Vega ISD along with the transfer application. Please note that to be eligible to be accepted as a transfer student to Vega ISD, all students must be in good standing with their current school district, have good attendance, and have no discipline issues.
Thank you,
Jerry Adams
Superintendent, Vega ISD
