Longhorn Weekly

Dear Vega ISD Community:

As we turn the calendar to October, we have been blessed with much needed moisture this past week with the rainfall.

Last week the six week progress reports were sent out.

Please be sure to visit with your student about their performance in each of their classes as we approach report card time at the nine week mark.

We took school pictures this week.  It’s always exciting to see our students come to school dressed up for pictures.  Everyone looked great!  Last week our PTO blessed our staff with the ultimate concession stand in the teacher’s lounge.  The Vega FFA held its kickoff night this past week for junior members and members.

Last week our students participated in See You at the Pole.  They did such a great job at the event and huddled up together after the event for prayer.  It was a great way to begin the school day for everyone.  We appreciate our local churches for volunteering to bring donuts and juice for everyone to enjoy.

The junior high football team traveled to Memphis last week and did a great job bringing home the win.  The Varsity football team picked up another win last week from Memphis forfeiting the week’s game since they dropped to 6-man football this year.  Our boys were able to get another week of recovery and rest as they get ready for their final non-district match up against Highland Park.  The junior high and high school cross country teams went to Nazareth last Saturday for the color run and two of our students placed.  The JV and Varsity volleyball teams picked up wins last week at New Home and against Friona and Dimmitt.  Volleyball will begin district competition this Saturday.

Be sure to visit the district’s webpage and Facebook pages for more information and pictures from these events.

 Thank you,

Jerry Adams
