Longhorn Weekly

Dear Vega ISD Community:

Welcome to summer!

We would like to thank all of our students, families, and our amazing staff for a great school year.  Our wish is for you to thoroughly enjoy your summer and spend time with family and make wonderful and happy memories over the next several months.

Last Friday was the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2026.  We also had our 8th grade graduation and our kindergarten graduation ceremonies last week.  In addition, we held our elementary awards program and our scholastic banquet and athletic banquets last week.

Earlier last week we were able to hold our junior high awards program and the senior/kindergarten hallway walk.

Saturday morning we held an emergency escort send off for our Band students who qualified for the State Solo and Ensemble contest in Austin.  This spring semester saw an ensemble of Vega High School students qualify for state competition and we appreciate our emergency response services in Vega for providing the escort services to send off our students.  When we talk about excellence, seeing students from powerlifting, girls golf team, girls tennis doubles team, girls track 400 meter run, FCCLA, band solo and UIL, and UIL academics copy editing qualify for State competition is amazing.  In all, 23 Vega students qualified for State competition this spring semester.  The strength of Vega ISD is that our students are so diversified and demonstrate excellence in so many different activities.

Thanks to the First Baptist Church for providing an end of year meal for our staff at the staff recognition program.  Bell Letters were awarded to Coach Sansing by Kase Vogler and to Mrs. Vogler by Chris Silerio.  Service awards at Vega ISD were presented to our staff:  five years of service to Mrs. Carlson, Coach Norris, Mr. Osborn, Mrs. Craeghs, and Coach Whitecotton; ten years of service to Mrs. Holly Spiva and Mrs. Rosas; fifteen years of service to Mrs. Walker; and twenty years of service to Mrs. Noggler, and Mrs. Dukes.  In addition, we recognized the retirements of Mrs. Brorman and Mrs. Vogler.

Our transfer campaign is underway on our website and social media. If you feel comfortable doing so, please “like” the social media posts and share them on your own social media pages. If you need any help in doing this, please reach out to our office. We would be glad to help. If you know of any family who might be interested in attending an A-Rated district dedicated to student academic success with personalized learning and diverse opportunities, please have them reach out to our campuses or district office for more information.

When you visit the district’s website, it opens up to the transfer landing page where you will find more information about Vega ISD along with the transfer application. Please note that to be eligible to be accepted as a transfer student to Vega ISD, all students must be in good standing with their current school district, have good attendance, and have no discipline issues.

Thank you,

Jerry Adams
