Today we celebrated a special group of 4th graders during our inaugural Counselor’s Character Award Lunch! 💛
These students were recognized for the character they consistently show each day through their kindness, friendship, gratitude, leadership, and the positive impact they have on those around them.

Vega Elementary ended this Friday before Spring Break with our 3rd 9 Weeks AR Party! 🎉📚 This is by far a favorite for our students. They got to bring snacks 🍿🍪 and games 🎲🧩 from home to celebrate all their hard work.
It’s always so fun to see our kids playing, laughing, and socializing with each other! 😊💙

🛞🚚⛓️Careers rolled onto campus yesterday! 🎣🚜🚓
We took learning to the parking lot this week with Careers on Wheels! Pre-K—6th grade students had a blast exploring different careers and getting a close-up look at jobs that keep the world moving. From agriculture and trades to public service and small businesses, our students asked great questions and learned from some incredible professionals.
A huge THANK YOU to the presenters from our community and surrounding areas who came to spend time with our students - we are so grateful for the experience you provided our kids!
We’d also like to thank our local law enforcement partners for starting the day with 9-1-1 education and safety presentations for our students!

Vega ISD staff and students will attend school Monday–Friday during the following weeks:
🚌 March 9–13 – Week before Spring Break
🚌 March 23–27 – Week after Spring Break
This means students will attend school on Friday both of these weeks.

Congratulations to our Longhorn Golf teams on surviving the first tournament of the season! ⛳️☀️ What a beautiful day to compete!
🏆 The Lady Longhorns brought home the win as a team with an impressive 429 — way to start the season strong!
🥈 Shoutout to DJ Degraaf for earning 2nd Place Individual honors — great round!
👏 The Longhorns battled hard and finished 5th as a team — proud of the effort!
💪 The Longhorn JV team added a strong showing as well, finishing 8th!

Vega High School Student Council is collecting can tabs, bottles, and sippy cups for their upcoming convention. Bottles and sippy cups should preferably be new. Please bring these items to your homeroom teacher or 2nd period teacher. All donations must be turned in by February 3rd. The class with the most donations will receive a prize from Student Council!

Out of an abundance of caution and due to the continued extreme cold temperatures that are expected to continue tomorrow, Vega ISD will be closed Monday, January 26th.
Wind chills are forecasted to be in the single digits, and road conditions remain slick and are expected to stay slippery throughout the night. Additionally, many of our students and staff members travel from out of town, and ensuring the safety of both our students and staff is always our top priority.
We appreciate your understanding as we make decisions with the well-being of our school community in mind. Please take precautions during this extreme weather, stay safe, and stay warm.
