📚 Will the semester test exemption policy still be in place? 📚 Yes! JH & HS students will still be eligible for semester test exemptions, but they will be required to attend school on those days. 📚 Will my child have homework on Fridays? 📚 Teachers will assign work as needed, but Fridays will not automatically be homework days. Students may have assignments to complete at home, just as they would on a traditional schedule. It is not our goal for students to spend their day off doing homework. However, just like on a 5-day schedule, if a student is absent or has unfinished work, there may be assignments to complete.

🚌 How will this affect bus schedules? 🚌 Buses will continue to run as usual, but routes will align with the extended school day schedule. Pickup and drop-off times will be adjusted to accommodate the 7:40 AM start time and 3:54 PM release time. Stay tuned for more details as we get closer to the start of the school year!

📚 Will students fall behind academically with fewer school days? 📚 Vega ISD will maintain the same high expectations for both teachers and students. The quality of instruction will remain a priority, and teachers will continue to provide the support students need to be successful. If a student falls behind, we are confident that our amazing teachers will make arrangements to meet with students on Fridays in small groups, offering the same personalized instruction that we provide in a 5-day week.

📅 What are the monthly staff development days? 📅 Each month, Vega ISD staff will have a staff development day dedicated to meetings, planning, and student intervention. On these days, students will not be required to attend school. However, this is a great opportunity for students who may need extra help! ❄️ What are snow days? Will we have to come to school on those days? ❄️ Snow days are inclement weather days*when school is canceled due to unsafe travel conditions. Just like in previous years, Vega ISD will monitor weather conditions and make decisions accordingly. We will not automatically have to make up snow days. The school calendar includes built-in instructional time, but if we exceed our allotted bad weather days, we may need to adjust the schedule later in the year. 🚨 Designated makeup days for snow/inclement weather are April 24, May 1, and May 8. 📅 What are the purple boxes in November? 📅 The purple days on November 24 and 25 are Professional Development Exchange Days. Vega ISD staff members can work two days during the summer to substitute for these two days in November.
