WTAMU invites students to ENGINEERING CAMP 2025, hosted by the College of Engineering at West Texas A&M University! This hands-on summer experience is designed to ignite curiosity, foster problem-solving skills, and introduce students to the exciting world of engineering and technology. The theme this year is “Survivor” so students will code, build, and engineer their way back to civilization. It’s a problem-solving, teamwork, and engineering adventure – all in one. Camp Details: 🔧 Week 1 (Grades K–5) 📅 June 2–6, 2025 🧠 Engaging STEM activities and engineering challenges tailored to younger learners ⚙️ Week 2 (Grades 6–12) 📅 June 9–13, 2025 🛠️ Team challenges, design projects, and real-world engineering applications Both camps are led by WTAMU faculty, staff, and student mentors in a safe and creative environment on campus. 🚨 IMPORTANT SAFETY ALERT 🚨 Vega ISD has been made aware of a dangerous TikTok trend where students may insert paperclips or similar objects into Chromebook charging or USB ports to create sparks. This behavior can cause severe damage — and even risk fire or explosion. Today, our principals will be addressing this issue with all students. We’re reinforcing the serious safety risks and reminding them that intentional damage to school-issued devices can lead to disciplinary action and up to $300 in replacement costs. As the school year winds down, please continue talking with your child about using their Chromebook responsibly and the real consequences of dangerous behavior.
