Dr. Jerry Adams, Lone Finalist Superintendent

The Vega ISD Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the Lone-Finalist for the Superintendent position.  The Board met Monday evening in a Special called meeting to select the next leader for VISD.  Dr. Jerry Adams, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction at Comfort ISD was the unanimous selection of the Board of Trustees.  There will be a 21-day waiting period before Dr. Adams is offered a contract on November 29, 2023.  Once a contract is offered and accepted, the Board is planning a “meet and greet” for Vega staff and the newly named candidate.  Dr. Adams plans to start the new position in January of the coming year.

Dr. Adams has served public schools in several capacities. Before his present position at Comfort ISD, he was the Coronado High School Principal at Lubbock ISD, served as the High School Principal at New Deal, taught Undergraduate and Graduate courses for teacher and principal certification at Wayland Baptist University, spent time as a Middle School Principal at New Deal, and began his career as a high school science teacher at New Deal.  He completed his Bachelor of Science, Masters of Education, and Doctor of Education at Texas Tech University.  He is a graduate of Monterey High School in Lubbock.

Dr. Adams and his wife, Sarah, are proud parents of three children – one son, Daniel, age 16 and twin daughters, Rachel and Hannah, age 14, who all participate in extracurricular activities including UIL Academic contests (all), band (all), football (Daniel), volleyball (Rachel and Hannah), and basketball (all).  Mrs. Adams serves as the Campus Testing Coordinator and Campus Academic Programs Coordinator in their district.  

Mr. Adams was selected and the 2015 Texas High School Principal of the Year while at Coronado High School.  He was also selected as the 2012 and 2015 Region 17 High School Principal of the Year.
