Longhorn Weekly

Dear Vega ISD Community,

We hope everyone is enjoying Spring Break and staying safe.  With Daylight Savings Time beginning this past weekend, everyone will have an opportunity to adjust to the time change before school resumes next week.  It will be nice to have daylight longer in the evening hours.

We want to congratulate the One Act Play for qualifying for the next round of competition during last weekā€™s district meet in Panhandle.  Our students did a great job with their performance at the contest and followed up with a public performance for our high school students and community members last Friday.  They continue to work hard and prepare for their upcoming Bi-District competition.  Congratulations are also in order for our boys powerlifting team who did a great job at regional competition last week as well.  Our boys were able to bring home some medals and achieve some personal bests.  Be sure to check out the district webpage and facebook page pictures and individual accomplishments.

Our tennis teams competed in Amarillo last week as well and congratulations are extended to our students who placed in the meet and won medals and trophies.  Our golf teams also competed in Amarillo at the end of last week as they prepare for upcoming district competitions.  Be sure to check out the district webpage and facebook page for pictures and more information.

Our Ag Mechanics students are traveling to Houston this week for their next round of competition.  Good luck to our amazing students as you showcase your projects once again.  We also have students who will compete in the Region II Rodeo Finals in Abilene at the end of Spring Break and we want to wish them well!

If you see any of our fantastic faculty and staff over Spring Break, please be sure to thank them for their care and dedication to providing exceptional learning opportunities for each and every student in Vega ISD.  Our district is blessed to have such amazing educators impacting the lives of our students.  In fact, our students and staff both deserve some rest this week because they have all been working hard.

Over the next several weeks, we will share on our webpage the feedback trends we received from the Stakeholder survey as well as rolling out a student recruitment campaign for students and families who value excellence in their academic work and desire to achieve the standard of excellence that is Vega ISD.  If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

Thank you,

Jerry Adams
