Dear Vega ISD Community:
We want to thank everyone who supported the FFA last week at the annual Pancake Supper during the basketball games last week. The pancakes and sausages were great! Our Ag Mechanics students are preparing to travel to the Fort Worth Ag Mech contest at the end of the week as they continue to work on their projects.
This week Vega hosted the Oldham County Spelling Bee! The junior and senior division champions were both Vega students! Congratulations to them and to each of the qualifiers from the schools in our county. More information and pictures about this are on the district’s webpage.
Last week many of our students participated in the Oldham County Junior Livestock Show and did such a great job showing their animals. Last Friday was the showing of commercial steers, heifers, steers and bottle calves. Last Saturday was the showing of goals, lambs, and swine. Also congratulations goes out to our students who participated and placed in the Oldham County Junior Livestock Show Baked Goods Contest! There are so many wonderful activities for our students in our community!
Attendance at school is so important. After each 9 week grading period, our campuses have incentives for perfect or near-perfect attendance. Last week our elementary school recognized all students who had perfect attendance or only one absence with a drink from The Grill as a reward for their great attendance. Also six of our perfect attendance winners had their names entered into a drawing to select a prize of their choice! We appreciate our families for making attendance a priority.
Our elementary school also was able to recognize the Longhorn Leaders for the 2nd-9 week grading period. These students represent Vega Elementary by being extra responsible, kind, helpful, and trustworthy! Congratulations to our students and their families! Last weekend our junior high and JV basketball teams were busy. The JV girls won first place in the White Deer Tournament and the JV boys won the consolation bracket championship. The 7th grade team won both of their games at the Bushland Tournament.
