Longhorn Weekly

Dear Vega ISD Community:

Our transfer campaign is underway on our website and social media. If you feel comfortable doing so, please “like” the social media posts and share them on your own social media pages. If you need any help in doing this, please reach out to our office. We would be glad to help. If you know of any family who might be interested in attending an A-Rated district dedicated to student academic success with personalized learning and diverse opportunities, please have them reach out to our campuses or district office for more information.

When you visit the district’s website, it opens up to the transfer landing page where you will find more information about Vega ISD along with the transfer application. Please note that to be eligible to be accepted as a transfer student to Vega ISD, all students must be in good standing with their current school district, have good attendance, and have no discipline issues. This week our students began taking their STAAR tests.  Our students and teachers have worked really hard this school year on their academic preparation and this is our time to showcase the learning from this school year.

This week marked the beginning of the STAAR tests for our students.  The next few weeks of the testing window will be very important for our students and their teachers.  They have all worked so hard this year learning and growing.  In fact, all of our elementary students were asked to wear their fastest tennis shoes to support our 3rd and 4th graders who are testing this week so they will “run over the STAAR”.

Be sure to visit our webpage and Facebook pages for pictures and more information about these and other events for our students.

Our A and A/B Honor rolls for the 3rd nine week grading period were announced this past week.  Our students have done such a great job in the classroom.  The Vega FFA Ag Mechanics Open House is this Sunday at the Community Center.  This is a great opportunity to see firsthand the craftsmanship and showcasing of the student projects along with a silent auction and meal by donation.

Our girls golf team is traveling to the Regional Golf competition this week.  We wish them well and are excited about their accomplishments.  Our tennis team will travel to the Regional Tennis Tournament next Monday and Tuesday.

District Track was very successful last week.  So many of our junior high records were broken this track season.  The 7th grade girls and boys were both District Champions!  Our high school students competed and did a great job at the District Track Meet.  Four of our relay teams and five other students will advance to the Area Track Meet this Friday in Canyon.

Our high school FCCLA students traveled to Dallas this past weekend to compete at the State FCCLA contest.  Our students did such a great job throughout the year and represented themselves and our school very well.  It was really fun to see so many students from elementary to high school coming out to the FCCLA send off we had last week.

Thank you,

Jerry Adams
