Dear Vega ISD Community:
Life at school continues to be very busy with the many activities and successes our students are having. You may have noticed the new marquee in front of the school was installed and up and running last week. We are very appreciative of Boralex who provided a grant to the district to pay for the entire cost of the new marquee. There were no district funds expended from our budget for this project. We appreciate Daniel Fetterman from Boralex who encouraged us to complete the grant application and assisted us through the grant process.
We were especially excited last Friday for our Pre-K and Kindergarten Round Up where we welcomed our very newest Shorthorns to Vega Elementary School. If you missed the Round Up, you can still contact the Vega Elementary School office and they will help you get everything you need.
This week our students are finishing up their STAAR tests. They have worked hard this school year and we are proud of their efforts and the work our teachers have done investing in each and every student.
Last Friday was also the UIL Regional Academic Meet for our qualifying high school students. One of our students advanced to state in Copy Editing finishing tied for first in the region and another student placed sixth in copy editing. Our Calculator Team placed 2nd as a team at Regionals and brought home some hardware and we believe this is the highest team placement at Regionals in school history.
Prom was last week and our students dressed for the occasion. It was a very successful event. We are appreciative of our parents and students who put in so much effort for a fantastic event.
This Friday is the Regional Track Meet. We will have a competitor in the 400M and 100M runs and the 4x400 girls relay team who are all ready to punch their ticket to State Track. Also on Friday the STATE Golf team will have an emergency escort at 8 AM. The State Golf Tournament will be next Monday and Tuesday. On next Tuesday the STATE Girls Double Tennis team will have an emergency escort at 8 AM also. The State Tennis Tournament will be next Thursday and Friday.

We have sent out a planning survey to our current students and their parents. We ask that all current parents complete the planning survey for each student enrolled in Vega ISD. This information will help us in planning for next school year so we have accurate class size estimates and be able to plan the transportation routes in advance. We thank you in advance for completing this survey.
Our transfer campaign is underway on our website and social media. If you feel comfortable doing so, please “like” the social media posts and share them on your own social media pages. If you need any help in doing this, please reach out to our office. We would be glad to help. If you know of any family who might be interested in attending an A-Rated district dedicated to student academic success with personalized learning and diverse opportunities, please have them reach out to our campuses or district office for more information.
When you visit the district’s website, it opens up to the transfer landing page where you will find more information about Vega ISD along with the transfer application. Please note that to be eligible to be accepted as a transfer student to Vega ISD, all students must be in good standing with their current school district, have good attendance, and have no discipline issues. This week our students began taking their STAAR tests. Our students and teachers have worked really hard this school year on their academic preparation and this is our time to showcase the learning from this school year.
