Dear Vega ISD Community:
We hope all of our families are enjoying time with each other and are getting plenty of rest and relaxation. With all of the summertime activities going on we wanted to provide a Summer Edition of the Longhorn Weekly!
Our students are continuing to be very active and successful with many different activities.
A huge congratulations goes out to Molly Neely and Brooke Skaggs who are the State Champions in the 4-H Safety and Injury Educational Presentation. Bradley Carlson placed 9th in the State with his Beef Education Presentation and had a perfect score on the Retail ID in the Meat Judging Competition. Three other students also qualified for State in 4-H – Ethan Spinhirne received his 4-H Scholarship and competed in the State Archery Shoot along with Hannah and Rachel Adams who competed in the Health and Wellness Education Presentation Contest.
Vega basketball camps will begin next week. It’s always exciting for our students to begin with the camps. As a reminder, we will be having summer repair projects ongoing throughout the summer so the west parking lot (student parking lot behind the new gym) and back entrances will be closed. Everyone should use the front parking lot and entrance to the school.
FFA students left this week to attend the Area 1 Leadership Camp. Our students will be learning many wonderful skills they will be able to use for next school year.
Our transfer campaign is underway on our website and social media. If you feel comfortable doing so, please “like” the social media posts and share them on your own social media pages. If you need any help in doing this, please reach out to our office. We would be glad to help. If you know of any family who might be interested in attending an A-Rated district dedicated to student academic success with personalized learning and diverse opportunities, please have them reach out to our campuses or district office for more information.
When you visit the district’s website, it opens up to the transfer landing page where you will find more information about Vega ISD along with the transfer application. Please note that to be eligible to be accepted as a transfer student to Vega ISD, all students must be in good standing with their current school district, have good attendance, and have no discipline issues.
Thank you,
Jerry Adams
Superintendent, Vega ISD
