Dear Vega ISD Community:
As we enter our second full week of school, everyone is getting acclimated to their new schedules and routines for the school year.
This week our Varsity Football team travels to Clarendon for their first game of the season.
While our junior high, JV, and Varsity Volleyball teams play games at home before the varsity team travels to the Canyon Randall tournament to play against more 5A teams.
We will have a send off for the football team this Friday in the courtyard and then everyone will head out to Clarendon for our cheerleaders, band, and football team to go do their thing!
On Saturday our cross country runners will be in Hereford for the high school and junior high cross country Hereford Meet.
We are literally off and running!
We have some FFA Alumni who recently earned their American FFA Degree! Congratulations to Maigyn Ellis, Nashton Fowler, Anabelle Cline, and Mason Neelley! There is informaoitn about this on the Vega FFA Facebook page.
As a safety reminder, during drop-off and pick-up, please remember that students and teachers walking through the circle drive and parking lot have the right of way. Drivers must stop and allow them to cross. This is a very busy time so please slow down, stay alert, and do not use your phone while driving. We appreciate everyone helping out to keep all of us safe.
If your student would benefit from free snack paks sent home each weekend, please reach out to Mrs. Paschel or Nurse Cayla. There is also information about this on our Facebook page.
Last week our JV and Varsity football teams hosted Plains for their final scrimmage and the teams did some really amazing work on the field. The Varsity Volleyball team traveled to Farmersville and played eight matches, most of which were against schools much larger than us and several of the teams were state ranked. Three of the matches went to a tie breaker and the Lady Horns competed in every match and gave their opponents a run for their money! Last Saturday our band spent time putting in some extra work and did a clinic with marching fundamentals and developing leadership skills and belief statements. This is going to be an amazing year!
This Friday is the deadline for high school students to sign up for the ACT, SAT, or PSAT.
The construction repair projects are finishing up. We hope the back parking lot will be ready for use next week. We would like to thank everyone for making adjustments to the drop off and pick up lines as a result of the parking lot work and the relocation of the bus barn.
Thank you,
Jerry Adams
Superintendent, Vega ISD
