Out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of our students, coaches, staff, and community for both schools, tonight's football game at Memphis will be cancelled. Please continue to keep the Memphis Police Chief, his family, and the community of Memphis in your thoughts and prayers as authorities continue to search for the suspect.

Vega ISD is aware of the Blue Alert issued regarding the emergency situation in Memphis. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Memphis Police Chief and his family. We have been in communication with Memphis ISD regarding options for tonight's football game scheduled to be in Memphis. We will have more information this afternoon as the situation evolves and the authorities work to apprehend the suspect. Our top priority will be for the safety of our students, coaches, staff, and community for both schools regarding the decisions that will be made for tonight's game.
